Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday (August 4) transferred the claim amount to the depositors of cooperative societies of the Sahara group through the Sahara Refund Portal in Delhi. In July this year, the Union home minister introduced a portal, facilitating depositors of the Sahara Group of Cooperative Societies to claim their refunds within 45 days.

This move was followed by March 29 Supreme Court order that directed the transfer of Rs 5,000 crore from the "Sahara-SEBI Refund Account" to the Cooperative Refund Claims Settlement (CRCS) for the benefit of Sahara Cooperative Societies' investors.

Subsequently, once the Rs 5,000 crore payment is completed, another appeal will be made to facilitate refunds to other depositors invested in Sahara Cooperative Societies.

Depositors of Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Limited, and Hamara India Credit Cooperative Society Limited, before March 22, 2022, are eligible for the refund.

Additionally, depositors of Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, prior to March 29, 2023, are also eligible for the refund scheme.
