In what could well be a thrilling movie plot, Dharma Veer Singh, a soldier with the 66 Arms and Corps Regiment in Dehradun, lost his memory after the car he was travelling in met with an accident 7 years ago.
Owing to his memory loss, he was forced to earn his daily bread begging on the streets of Haridwar. The Indian Army too declared him dead, as he was not traced for a long time and started giving defence pension to his wife as well.
As luck would have it, he met with a second accident seven years later and that came as a blessing in disguise. The impact of this new accident restored his memory. He eventually made his way back to his native and knocked on the door of his house in the wee hours.
As his father Kailash Yadav, a retired Subedar, opened the door his joy knew no bounds. His son Dharam Veer Singh was standing right in front of him to his utter disbelief.
His family members had lost hope of ever seeing him again and thought he may have died in the accident. His wife, however, strongly believed she would see him again. Her firm belief finally proved true.
