An LIC agent was attacked with acid outside his home in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday night. The incident, caught on CCTV, shows a masked man throwing acid and fleeing. The victim, Venkata Apparao, suffered burns on his face, neck and hands but is stable. Police have registered a case, collected evidence and are investigating possible motives.

Attacker strikes suddenly and flees

According to police and family members, the attack happened around 9:30 pm. Apparao was sitting outside his house when an unidentified man approached him on foot, NTV reported.

Without warning, the attacker threw acid at him and quickly ran away before anyone could react.

CCTV footage reveals chilling details

CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced and is now being closely examined by the police. The video shows a man walking through a narrow lane with his face covered by a cap and mask.

He is seen carrying a bottle, walking up to the victim, aiming at his face, throwing the liquid, and then fleeing the spot.

Victim rushed to hospital

Hearing Apparao’s screams, family members and neighbours rushed to help him. He was first taken to a nearby private hospital and later shifted to another hospital in Visakhapatnam for better treatment.

Doctors said he suffered burn injuries on his face, neck, and hands. Though the injuries are serious, his condition is now stable.

Police begin investigation

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Teams have been formed to trace the attacker. Officials said they have collected samples from the spot and are trying to identify the chemical used in the attack.

Motive still unclear

Investigators are looking into all possible angles, including personal disputes, business dealings, and past rivalries. Police also suspect that the attacker might be known to the victim, but said it is too early to confirm anything.

They are questioning people close to Apparao and analysing CCTV footage to find leads.
