Tamil Nadu, Kerala brace for cyclone Burevi
Cyclone Burevi barrelled through Sri Lanka overnight, rattling the island nation but leaving it relatively unscathed on its way to the southern Indian coastline.

<p>According to the India Meteorological Department, "Burevi over north Sri Lanka moved westnorthwestwards with a speed of 11 kmph during past six hours and lay centered over north Sri Lanka and adjoining Gulf of Mannar. It is very likely to move westnorthwestwards and emerge into Gulf of Mannar during next 3 hours."</p>

It would then move nearly westsouthwestwards across Pamban area by afternoon and cross south Tamil Nadu coast between Pamban and Kanyakumari during December 3 night and December 4 early morning as a cyclonic storm with wind speed of 7080 gusting to 90 kmph." </p>

<p>15 NDRF teams have been deployed in Tamil Nadu while 8 teams are in Kerala. 12 flights from and to Chennai connecting Southern destinations like Thoothukudi, Trichy and Kochi have been cancelled due to Cyclone Burevi. As many as 3 flights from Chennai to Thoothukudi and 3 flights from Thoothukudi to Chennai also have been cancelled.</p>

The Prime Minister assured that Centre will provide all possible support to the states.</p>
