<p>The country also recorded 3,874 deaths, pushing the overall toll to 2,87,122. On Wednesday, India had recorded its highest single-day death toll with 4,529 fatalities.</p>

<p>Further, 3,69,077 recuperated from the viral disease and were discharged from the hospitals during the same time span. On a positive note, the caseload stayed below the 3-Lakh mark continuing a declining trend.</p>

<p>Presently, Karnataka with over 5.58 lakh active cases leads the statewise tally. Maharashtra stands in second place with a little more than four lakh active cases as of Thursday morning. Both these states however have shown a downward trend with the active case load dropping considerably over the last 24 hours.</p>
