UEFA Champions League 2020-21: Liverpool faces Real Madrid test, Bayern Munich and PSG to fight it out

The 2020-21 edition of the UEFA Champions League has reached its quarterfinal stage, with the opening leg set to be played across Tuesday and Wednesday. Defending champion Bayern Munich and former champion Liverpool will fight it out for a semis spot, but it won't be easy, as we present the preview of this leg.

Manchester City eyes Borussia Dortmund domination
City has managed to prove its worth in the tournament so far with its flawless performance. As it is up against Bundesliga giant Dortmund at Eithad Stadium on Tuesday, City has the upper hand. Nonetheless, known for its strong resilience, Dortmund could easily frustrate City, as it certainly won't be easy for the host.

Can Liverpool pass the Real Madrid test?
Liverpool so far has shown contrasting performance in the UCL compared to its shaky one in the Premier League. Nonetheless, its luck could soon run out as it faces the record UCL champion Real Madrid. Although Los Blancos is not the same force as it was a couple of years back, it is still a force to reckon with. And, so is The Reds. However, with the opening game being played at Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday, Madrid has the upper hand. But, its would be too soon to count out Liverpool.

Chelsea takes on unpredictable Porto
On Wednesday, Chelsea travels to Porto to take on the city champion FC Porto. Now, the host has been one of the most highly unpredictable teams of the tournament this season, having knocked out Italian champion Juventus. Meanwhile, the visitor is on a roll under Thomas Tuchel. Although it is coming off an embarrassing 5-2 loss against West Bromwich Albion at home, it would be hopeful that it does not affect its performance in Porto. Nonetheless, don't be surprised if Porto manages to gain the upper hand.

Bayern Munich in a replay against Paris Saint-Germain
Munich is undoubtedly a favourite to become the undisputed champion of the competition and retain the crown this season. However, it would have to go through PSG, the side that it beat in the final last season. Being played at Allianz Arena on Wednesday, Munich is certainly the favourite again. However, PSG tends to come up with a dominating performance in the opening leg. Therefore, Munich has a fight at hand.
