Today's weather situation is pointing in the same direction. Many districts in South Bengal, including Kolkata, are facing a threat of severe weather from the afternoon onwards. There's a high chance of heavy rain and Kalbaisakhi. Howrah district has already seen a few spells of rain.

People have finally got some relief from the suffocating heat. Meteorologists are hopeful that more relief is on the way. A Kalbaisakhi has been forecast for several districts, with wind speeds expected to reach up to 60 km per hour.

The weather office predicts rain and Kalbaisakhi for several districts. These include North and South 24 Parganas, West Medinipur, West Bardhaman, Howrah, and Kolkata. A trough line is extending from northwest Uttar Pradesh to northwest Bangladesh. Another one has formed about 5.8 metres above sea level, pulling in a lot of moisture from the Bay of Bengal.

Meanwhile, the continuous spell of bad weather has actually calmed things down in North Bengal. A winter-like chill has returned to the region, from the hills to the plains, and the temperature has dropped quite a bit. However, the rain isn't stopping just yet. More rainfall is likely today, Tuesday, in the afternoon, across Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Cooch Behar, and Jalpaiguri districts.
