Rumours about filmmaker Aditya Dhar's ambitious 7.5-hour director's cut of Ranveer Singh's "Dhurandhar" have sparked online interest, with some suggesting a limited theatrical release on April 5. According to rumours, the expanded version, which includes the duology 'Dhurandhar' and 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', has been released with a CBFC certificate dated March 31, 2026.

However, when IANS contacted the producers, they were unavailable for comment. There is still no clarity or formal announcement addressing the current news. According to a source close to IANS, this might be an April Fools' Day hoax.

The cast of Dhurandhar includes Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera, and Danish Pandor.

The film, produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, will be shown in premium formats such as IMAX and Dolby Cinema, with select locations holding two screenings every weekend.

Originally planned and shot as a single feature, the production was later divided into two parts for theatrical release owing to its length. The handpicked director's cut brings the story back together, providing a 450-minute, smooth, and engaging viewing experience. The screenings will apparently include three intervals, English subtitles, and technological improvements, including crisper vocals.

A tweet from the film's banner Jio Studios on X revealed a day-by-day breakdown of the Ranveer Singh-starrer's collection in India NBOC, with a solid hold beyond its opening week, adding Rs. 53 crore on Day 8, Rs. 42 crore on Day 9, Rs. 64 crore on Day 10, and Rs. 71 crore on Day 11.

The film has grossed a massive Rs. 1,365 crore worldwide, including Rs. 1,023 crore in India and Rs. 342 crore in other markets. The first instalment of the duology, which was released on December 5, 2025, was also a movie office triumph, generating more than Rs. 1,000 crore globally within three weeks after its release.

The first section focuses on a high-stakes clandestine counterterrorism operation. The film depicts an undercover Indian intelligence agent who infiltrates Karachi's crime syndicates and political power structures in Pakistan in an attempt to dismantle a terror network threatening India.
