IPL 2020: From Dhoni's unwanted to Kohli's highest, here are the records scripted as RCB pound CSK

The horror show for three-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) continued, as they succumbed to yet another defeat in the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL), on Saturday. In Match 25, they were pounded by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 37 runs, while RCB rose to the fourth spot in the table. Consequently, some records were scripted.

Match report: Winning the toss, RCB skipper Virat Kohli opted to bat first. Despite a shaky start, opener Devdutt Padikkal, along with Kohli, played a sublime knock of 33 and an unbeaten 90, respectively. As a result, RCB managed to post a par total of 169/4, while CSK's Shardul Thakur claimed 2/40.

In reply, CSK, too, were off to a shaky start, losing their opening two wickets in the powerplay. While the batsmen thereon tried to pull through without further damage being done, RCB's choking bowling was just too strong for the former's batsmen to score against, as they fell short by 37 runs. Chris Morris was RCB's star, with figures of 3/19.

Dhoni on top again: Dhoni managed to script an all-time record tonight. Following a couple of catches, he has now claimed the most catches in the tournament to date, as a wicketkeeper. He went past Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Dinesh Karthik, who has claimed 104.

Kohli scores highest one: Kohli's knock of an unbeaten 90 consisted of four fours and sixes, each. While he did not play a dot delivery in his last 25 balls, it also happened to be the highest score by a captain against the side in the tournament to date.

Kohli records an unusual one: Kohli recorded an unusual one in the process, as he has now become the third batsman to score the most runs in an IPL innings by running between the wickets. Kohli, along with Manish Pandey and David Warner, has run 50 during his innings.

RCB hit most sixes: RCB scripted a unique record, as they have not plundered the most sixes in the IPL to date. While they have hit almost 1,160 sixes, they went past the previous record of Mumbai Indians (MI), who have hit 1,156.

CSK script a couple of unwanted ones: CSK's horror show led them to script an unwanted one, as they have now been unable to score 50 in the powerplay on three occasions this season. There have been four such instances altogether this term. In fact, they have also scored the third lowest powerplay total this season (26/2), behind KKR's 25/2 and Delhi Capitals' (DC) 23/3.

Dhoni enters the 300 club: Dhoni did not have a great outing with the bat tonight. However, he did manage to hit a six. Nonetheless, it turned out to be his 300th six in T20 cricket, as he became the third Indian to join the ranks of Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina.

CSK script a unique unpopular one: Among CSK's unpopular ones, a unique record emerged, as they have now hit the most delayed opening six of the innings this season. While CSK hit the same in 16.3 overs tonight, the previous record for the same happened to be held by them itself, having done so in 14.2 overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
