On Monday, it happened during the final session when the last ball of England's 18th over saw Daniel Lawrence sweep it vigorously off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Gill, who was stationed at short-leg, tried to evade, but could not help the ball avoid his forearm.</p>

"Shubman Gill sustained a blow on his left forearm while fielding on Day 3 of the 2nd Test. He has been taken for a precautionary scan. The BCCI Medical Team is assessing him. He won't be fielding today," it said in a <em>tweet and on Facebook</em>.</p>
