Sacking wrestlers is part and parcel of the industry and the WWE has been ruthlessly doing it for years. We look at 3 superstars that were released in January.
WWE management has already started firing underperforming superstars in the first month of the year itself. They released dozens of superstars from SmackDown, RAW, and NXT causing waves of emotions among fans. However, such a move is part and parcel of the industry, and World Wrestling Entertainment has been ruthlessly doing it for years. We look at three superstars that were released in January.
#3 Giovanni Vinci
Vinci was part of the widely known group with Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser. The Italian wrestler was also in multiple tag team matches with Kaiser that had made significant impact on the roster. The heel group broke off last year with Ludwig Kaiser and Gunther going in their own separate ways.

Gunther has become World heavyweight champion, while Ludwig Kaiser is having his best time in the WWE so far. But Giovanni Vinci was somewhat left behind. Despite rumors of WWE planning something big for the Italian, the management released him in January.
#2 Akam And Rezar (Authors of Pain)
Akam And Rezar, in their second stint in the WWE, weren't as effective as they were during their initial years. The duo made their debut in the NXT division and also won the tag team championship. During the COVID-19 crisis, both were released by the company. Part of the reason might have been cost-cutting measures.
However, as things opened up and the market turned back to normalcy, Authors of Pain was taken back by the company. Their run during their second stint involved some tag team feuds, but that was it. Akam And Rezar couldn't shine beyond their team partnership and have now been released by the WWE.
#1 Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson (Good Brothers)
Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson had major props when they made a fiercesome group with AJ Styles. However, as things moved, WWE broke away from the partnership as they shifted AJ Styles to solo campaigns for championship storylines. And in the absence of the phenomenal one, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson faded away from prominence. WWE finally pulled the plug on them early this year.
