WWE: For two decades, John Cena was the ultimate babyface in WWE, staying true to his “Never Give Up” persona. But at Elimination Chamber 2024, Cena finally turned heel, shocking the entire WWE Universe. However, if you look closely, WWE has been dropping subtle hints for months. Here are five signs that foreshadowed John Cena’s dramatic transformation.

Cena’s Cryptic Instagram Posts

John Cena is known to post random images on his Instagram account. However, in the recent weeks and months, the veteran wrestler has been giving subtle hints about his WWE character. On the same day the Chamber match happened, John Cena posted Big-E's pic in the New Day attire indicating it was a new day for him.

The Rock’s Subtle Hand Gesture

The Rock made his appearance at the Bad Blood PPV in 2024. In a closeup, the veteran wrestler also showed three fingers while leaving. The three fingers were akin to John  Cena's popular pose. The Rock also confirmed the subtle hint after the Elimination Chamber event.

Cena’s Long Losing Streak

John Cena has had a poor set of results in recent years, especially since 2018. WWE usually sends wrestlers on a losing streak upon which the individual character grows frustrating turning heel. The same case has happened with the fan favorite now.

Cena Takes Full Advantage

In the Elimination Chamber match, John Cena didn't hesitate to make conditions work for him. When Seth Rollins attacked CM Punk, Cena quickly grabbed the opportunity to lock the latter with STF. The veteran wrestler wouldn't have done that if he was going to continue with the baby face. It was completely out of character for him to do that.

WWE released a new poster for the Elimination Chamber event just days before the commencement. It involved Travis Scott, The Rock, and John Cena. All three were involved in the main segment of the heel turn. Such subtle hints are tough to crack but they are definitely there for the taking.
