synopsis
Actress Jayanthi has the record of acting in most films (36 movies) with Dr Rajkumar. They shared such a bond that Jayanthi was close enough to play pranks on Dr Raj. Here is one such incident when Dr Raj was left embarrassed with Jayanthi’s saree in his hand!
The Raja Jodi as they were called was shooting for Devaru Kotta Thangi movie. Jayanthi had read her part of the dialogue and was ready for her shot. But Dr Raj had long dialogues, and he was sitting in a corner with the script, reading it with utmost concentration.
Looking at him Jayanthi had an idea. She went up to Raj and kept the edge of her saree on Rajkumar’s hand. But Rajkumar was not even turning this time and without realising he caught the edge of the saree and continued with his dialogue rehearsal.
This went on for nearly eight minutes, and none in the set including Jayanthi made it look obvious. But Jayanthi knew that until Rajkumar was thorough with his dialogues, he was not going to notice his hand.
Thus she requested Dr Raj that she wanted to sit. Rajkumar did not understand why was she asking for his permission and said, please do sit.
Now, it was Jayanthi’s turn who seriously said, “I can sit only when you leave the edge of my saree.” It took a moment for Dr Raj to understand that he was holding the edge of her saree.
But once he released the saree edge, he questioned her, “How did the saree edge come into my hands.” AT this, Jayanthi siled and told that it did not come by itself nor did you take it but I placed it on your hands myself.
Dr Raj was blushing with shame and put an end to the incident by saying,” I didn’t realise, I am sorry Ms Jayanthi.”
In another such incident during the shooting of the movie Bhaddur Gandu with Jayanthi, an incident to do with mutton piece had amused Dr Rajkumar.
The shooting of the movie Bahaddur Gandu was taking place near Hogenakal Falls. After the shoot, the artistes, technicians were sitting in a line waiting for dinner as there was mutton curry. Dr Raj took a piece of mutton and started biting it. But despite his hard work, the mutton piece refused to cut into two pieces.
After a while, Jayanthi asked Dr Raj, why are you struggling with this piece, keep it aside and take another piece. But Dr Raj did not stop biting into the piece and said, today I want to see who is stronger, the piece or my teeth?
After some time, he said I think the mutton piece is stronger and kept it aside. He called the production people and asked, brother who got it and from which place and continued eating.
After the dinner, we got into the habit of walking into the forest with a group of people. It was pitch dark, and Jayanthi asked him, “What to do if we encounter an elephant.” Dr Raj was confident and said you don’t have to be scared when the Bahaddur Gandu (brave man) is accompanying you.
But Jayanthi continued with her question and said, “If the elephant appears in front of us, what will you do?” At this Dr Rajkumar gave an epic answer: “The moment I see the elephant, I will hold your hand and run as fast as I can.”
