synopsis

  • Chandrababu seems to forget that NTR and YSR were the most prominent of leaders loved by the people
  • How can Chandrababu compare himself to them?
  • His statement has now raked up a new controversy for the TDP government.

Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu’s statement during his two-day Kuppam visit has thrown open a can of worms.

“The people of Andhra Pradesh since Independence did not honour anyone as they honoured me. People of AP voted for me as they believed that I would save the separated State,” Naidu said.

While the latter part of his comment is true as the people did believe that he would uplift the State after its separation. But what did Chandrababu do? Did he live up to the expectations of the people? No.

TDP government is full of corruption. Irrigation projects, sand scam, land mafia, red sandalwood smuggling, temporary assembly construction, and secretariat buildings…you name it and they have done it.

Crores of rupees have changed hands and have entered into the coffers of the TDP leaders. The new capital city of Amaravathi was announced only after the surrounding lands were bought by the TDP leaders. Isn’t the accusation of the opposition true?

The government scheme holders are also selected on the basis of their membership in TDP.  Andhra has witnessed several public agitations against the corrupt government.

It’s true that people did vote for Naidu to put the State on the path of development. However, none of those promises have been fulfilled.

And now by comparing himself to NTR and YSR, he has only fallen further down in the eyes of the general public.

NT Ramarao and YS Rajasekhar Reddy were two prominent leaders of Andhra Pradesh who earned the love and respect of the people for their good works.

TDP has never won any election single-handedly, it has always been in coalition. He became CM in 1995 for the first time by backstabbing NTR.

In 1999, he came into power with the support of BJP. In 2003, TDP contested individually and lost the election. Even in 2009 with the coalition of TRS and other parties, TDP lost the election to Congress. Again in 2014, it came to power with the support of BJP and Jana Sena.
